Camping, finally!

Rico | Family,Life,Travel | Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Growing up I used to go camping a couple times a month with my family. I looked forward to every summer, going camping and fishing and hunting with my dad, and I truly came to love nature. That has stuck with me, and I can honestly say that I feel at home in nature. I could spend weeks at a time and be totally stress free and happy.

This last weekend I went camping for the first time this year. It seems like now that I’m older and have a real job and a family and all that, it’s easy to run out of time. We are always busy with one thing or another. But we finally made it up for the weekend.

I am so glad we did. It felt so good to get away from things. From the city, from technology (no internet or cell phones), and to get away from the heat. I didn’t want to come home yesterday.

We went to Harvey’s Meadow, where my family has been camping since I was a wee tot. It’s like my second home and it was great to be able to share some of my old stomping grounds with my awesome wife. I can’t wait to go back.

I miss my wife

I’m in San Jose, Ca right now for business. It’s great that eBay has given me the opportunity to travel so often. I’ve been to Vancouver, Las Vegas, Orlando, and San Jose twice now, all on eBay’s dime.

But this is the first time I’ve gone since I got married. And its been kind of tough. This is the longest we have been apart since we started dating.

I miss her, and can’t wait to see her.

It’s been good to meet all the people I talk to through email and over the phone finally though. I met my boss for the first time face to face, and lots of program and product managers.

I’ve also been able to see my friends Roman and Brian, so that has been nice.

But I miss my wife.
